Regular right-back Sergio Ramos is also preferred to Albiol as a centre-back option. Now his former club are looking to re-sign the Spanish international, and armed with the £24m they received for Juan Mata, are believed to be prepared to pay Real £8m for Albiol’s services. Arsenal were linked with the 6ft 3in stopper before he left the Mestalla in 2009, and could now re-enter the running if Madrid make him available.
